I’ve been a birth doula for 6 years and a counselor for 15 years. Over the past 6 years I have had the honor of working with birth mother and adoptive parents as a birth and postpartum doula. I believe every woman deserves a doula and this is especially true for women who are considering adoption. Unfortunately their birth experience is often forgotten in the process and healthcare professionals and hospitals don’t offer them the same choices and support. I have found my role as an adoption doula to be very beneficial to the birth family and everyone involved in the adoption process. Having a positive birth experience helps promote healthy healing and a foundation for a caring relationship.
